The fourth edition of the Technical Sessions “Ocean and Renewable Energies. The contribution of the Naval and Oceanic Engineering” took place on June 27th and 28th 2013 in Cádiz (Spain). These sessions were organized by ENERMAR, the PAT18 Working Group in Ocean Renewable Energies supported by the Spanish Association of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers.

The main aim of these sessions was to spread out the technical and scientific capabilities of the Naval and Oceanic Engineering, showing the current actuations and relevant projects which are ongoing in close cooperation with developers, utilities, and marine industries; technological centres, academia and universities; shipyards, classification societies; etc. This event has become a reference point for the Renewable Energies Sector, boosting the cooperation among the participants.

Eduardo Quevedo, TROPOS Project Manager, has actively participated in these sessions in the panel entitled “Ocean renewable energies, environmental aspects associated to its development” introducing the presentation “Technological opportunities in the new sustainable uses of The Ocean”. The sessions were also integrated by other representatives of the public and private sectors, who are contributing in the TROPOS Project, such as José de Lara, main researcher  at the Polytechnic University of Madrid, and Cristina Huertas, Business Development Director at Abengoa Seapower.
