The sixth ordinary meeting of the TROPOS Project, based on the design of a multi-use offshore platform for deep waters, took place in Kassel (Germany) at the premises of the FRAUNHOFER IWES (Institute for Wind Energy and Energy System Technology). This meeting, held under the coordination of PLOCAN, was attended by more than 40 researchers of the full TROPOS Consortium from both the European Union and Taiwan, as well as 2 stakeholders coming from several entities of the sector.
TROPOS is completing the engineering design of platforms combining activity sectors such as transport, energy, aquaculture and leisure with the aim of strengthening and optimizing use of the maritime space following the strategic view of the concepts of “Blue Economy” launched by the European Commission. The integration of the components is developed in order to present three viable platform models from a technical, economic and environmental point of view.
The progress of the project was reviewed at this meeting and at the same time the next objectives to cover were settled. The project will be closed with a meeting in Gran Canaria to be held in January 2015.
