It presents the supporting infrastructure, supply chains and logistics for the deployment of multi-use marine platforms and investigates both hard and soft infrastructure and required logistics related to the manufacturing, installation, operation and maintenance of the three TROPOS platform concepts Leisure Island, Green & Blue and Sustainable Service Hub.

D6.2.- Report on Environmental Impact Assessment and Mitigation Strategies

This report presents the Deliverable 6.2 – Report on Environmental Impact Assessment and Mitigation Strategies. The first and essential step for an evaluation of potential effects on the environment was the collection of available information on the existing environments at the three sites: (i) off Gran Canaria (Spain), (ii) off Crete (Greece), and (iii) off Liuqiu Island (Taiwan). In the second step we developed an appropriate methodology for the environmental impact assessment (EIA) of floating multi-use offshore platforms that may serve as a guideline for future EIAs. The third step involved the identification and summary of potential impacts on the particular environments.

D6.3.- Report on recommended monitoring strategies

This report presents the Deliverable 6.3 – Report on recommended monitoring strategies. An appropriate environmental monitoring programme is an integral part of ecologically sustainable offshore projects. Based on the results from deliverable D6.2 on impact assessment and mitigation strategies, general monitoring requirements for three TROPOS scenarios were identified.

D4.1.- Report on hydrodynamic simulations of platform models and model validation

This report presents the Deliverable 4.1 – Integrated Concept Offshore Platform System Design. Firstly, successive stages of the platform design are presented, based on a comparative study of seakeeping. The design is made using Neptuno software. Comparative simulations of the final platform seakeeping are run using Hydrostar and the results are compared with Neptuno simulations results. Besides, a mooring design is performed using OrcaFlex, based on the environmental conditions given in D3.2. Equivalent moorings for the model tests are sought. Finally, the experimental test program for the central unit is described.
Additionally the testing of the satellite unit comprising the wind energy platform plus aquaculture modules, fish cage and/or algae production unit is described and test results are introduced.

D3.5.- Integrated Concept Offshore Platform System Design

This report presents the Deliverable 3.5 – Integrated Concept Offshore Platform System Design. This document includes the conceptual vision, specifications and design of the integrated platforms that were developed in the course of WP3 and presented in D3.3 and D3.4. This deliverable is based on the work that was conducted during the Tasks 3.4 “System Engineering Modeling”, Task 3.5 “Conceptual Design of Overall Systems for Each of the Strategic Areas (Platform and Satellite Units)” and partially Task 3.6 “Third Party Verification and Risk Assessment”.
The objectives of D3.5 are to:
- Further evaluate and review the platform concepts based on the information presented in D3.3 and D3.4.
- Assess the functional properties of the separate platform elements and interfaces between them to facilitate functional simulations of the platform concepts.
- Define the physical properties of the separate platform elements including their allocation and interfaces between them to facilitate structural simulations of the platform concepts.
- Present a risk assessment methodology for the platform concepts.
